Tips for families
Free and child prices
Free ages differ: under 3 at Choco-Story and the Frietmuseum, under 4 on the canal boats and at Historium from 5, under 7 at the Belfry, under 13 at the windmill. Parks, the Beguinage and the Zeven Torentjes farm are free. Canal-boat prices are fixed by the city, so every operator charges the same.
Cobbles and strollers
Bruges is cobbled almost everywhere, so a light stroller or a carrier is easier than a big pram. Historium does not allow strollers inside, Choco-Story discourages them, and the Belfry and the windmill have steep stairs.
Check the days before you go
Many museums have closing days and the winter season starts on 3 November: the windmill closes and the Folklore museum is shut on Mondays and Tuesdays. The Belfry is closed 19–22 October 2026. The Toverplaneet indoor playground is open only Wednesday afternoon and at weekends outside the school holidays.
Rain plan and quiet times
On a wet day pick Choco-Story, the Frietmuseum, Historium or Sea Dreams at Boudewijn Seapark. The Markt and Rozenhoedkaai are busiest from 11:00 to 16:00, so do them early or in the evening with young children.
