Free Park & Ride and the station car park with a free bus

P+R means Park and Ride: a car park on the edge of the city, next to a metro, tram or bus stop. You leave the car there and ride into the centre.

Street parking

All street parking in the centre is paid: up to 4 hours between 09:00 and 20:00, at €1.00 for up to 30 minutes, €3.00 for 1 hour, €7.00 for 2 hours, €12.00 for 3 hours and €18.00 for 4 hours. Enter your number plate and pay with the 4411 app, by bank card or in cash (text message payment only works with a Belgian mobile number). Around the centre there is a Blue Zone: with a parking disc you can park free for up to 4 hours between 09:00 and 18:00 (check the signs for Sundays and public holidays). Free peripheral car parks and P+R sites lie on the edge of town. Motorbikes pay like cars (several bikes in one space pay once) and there is a free motorbike spot at Vlamingstraat 33.

Tips

Station car park with a free bus

At Centrum-Station you pay at most €7.10 for 24 hours. With your car park ticket, the driver and up to 3 passengers can take the bus into town and back for free on the day you arrive (the P+Bus ticket). Get the ticket by text 'BRUGGE PARKING' to 4884 (Belgian numbers only), on the De Lijn website or at the Lijnwinkel on Stationsplein. The Markt is about 20 minutes on foot.

't Zand: first hour free

Centrum-'t Zand is the closest big car park to the Markt (about 10 minutes on foot) and the first hour is free; a full day costs at most €17.10. On Saturdays and Sundays from 13:00 to 18:00 you can only reach it through the tunnel under the Koning Albert I-laan.

Car-light streets with cameras

Steenstraat is car-free every day 13:00–18:00 and Katelijnestraat is car-light daily 13:00–18:00; Geldmuntstraat and Zuidzandstraat are car-light on Saturdays and Sundays 13:00–18:00. Number-plate cameras check them and only permit holders may drive through. If you stay in licensed accommodation in the area, register your plate on the city's form by 11:00 the day after arrival.

No low-emission zone in Bruges

The Flemish government lists only Antwerp and Ghent as cities with a low-emission zone, so no LEZ rules apply to cars in Bruges (checked 14 October 2026).

Camper vans and coaches

Motorhomes can overnight at the Kanaaleiland on the Bargeweg (57 places, €25 a day October–March, €30 April–September, no reservations; free electricity). Coaches are not allowed in the centre: the coach park on the Bargeweg takes 93 coaches (€29 for 1–4 hours) and groups are dropped at the Bargeplein. Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes may not park in the centre.
